After months of interviewing and vetting candidates, Orcas Island Park and Recreation District is pleased to announce the selection of Terri Rodgers for the position of director.  Rodgers, a native Texan, moved to Orcas Island from Austin with her family in June 2017 after serving the Texas Facilities Commission as Director of Facility and Property Management Services for seven years.

With extensive experience in facility and grounds maintenance, her most recent portfolio encompassed approximately 18.8 million square feet of state owned and managed facilities. Terri joined TFC in 2010, bringing extensive knowledge from more than twenty years of real estate management experience in the private sector, where she held senior property and lease management positions with Trammell Crow Company, Endeavor Real Estate Group, and Whole Foods Market.

Rodgers’ comes to the island offering vast professional experience in all aspects of recreation and property management including day-to-day operations, budgeting, financial analysis and reporting, contract management, lease management, and asset life-cycle planning. Her local community activities include volunteering for the Orcas Island Booster Club and serving on the program committee for the Orcas Island Garden Club. While in Austin she served as President of Western Hills Girls Softball Association and was a member of both the Texas and Travis County Master Gardeners Associations.

Terri and husband Cal are the parents of two athletic daughters. Lillian (19), is completing her freshman year at Oregon State University, where she studies civil engineering and plays on an intramural softball team. She will return to Orcas this summer to work as a dockhand at Rosario Marina. Emma (15), is a freshman at Orcas Island High School. A member of the varsity Lady Vikings softball team, Emma has enjoyed making new friends and adjusting to island life.

 

In her upcoming position, Terri will manage all aspects of OIPRD’s recreational programs, facilities, and staff; serve as the main public contact and spokesperson for the organization; represent OIPRD in all professional business capacities; create and operate annual budgets and work strategically through six-year funding cycles. Terri’s first official day transitioning to the director position will be May 29^th.Please take a moment to stop by the OIPRD office located at the Funhouse, introduce yourself, and welcome her to our organization.
